Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family issues. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for notable jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of abuse or negligence at the children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law including divorce child support, custody and guardianships - aswell in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's requirements.
